Sanctuary- Season 2 Finale SPOILERS- Kali
Damn. Hot diggity Damn. Do we really have to wait months and months for a new episode? *pouts* I'm really not good at this patience thing. Oh well. I guess I'll have to busy myself with rewatching season one (with commentaries this time!) and go through season two again. Maybe I'll actually be brave enough to write a longer story! I have to amuse myself somehow! Spoilers/ Analysis below!

Sooooooooo..... I really liked this episode. I mean- Sanctuary has been freaking epic this entire season. Sure, there have been some plot holes and interesting directing decisions, but it's still by far one of the best shows I've seen. To quote my little sister (who I've gotten hooked on the show), "I love Sanctuary. It's like the best show. I think it's my favorite...like my favorite show ever." It was a cute moment! The cliffhanger could have been a little more dramatic. Yes, I know, end of the world and an angry goddess is pretty dramatic, but I wasn't left yelling at the tv like at the end of Season 1. In a way, I'm kind of glad. I won't give myself an ulcer while waiting for Season 3 :D

Will = adorkable. The dance was absolutely brilliant. I just love Crazy! Will. His expressions kept making me giggle, and if other people weren't in the room, I probably would have danced along with him! I did like how they played with the hallucinations, and they did leave us with a cliffie for his condition. He's (or rather was) connected with Kali, but the tiny spider (can't remember the name of it) isn't in him which is technically supposed to kill him. Magnus better figure that out soon!

Oh god, Magnus. It's just one thing after another. I'll be honest and say my first thought when Will first had the spider in him (after the autopsy of the previous host) was that Magnus wouldn't be alone any longer! The other host was over 200 years old, and I'll be interested to see if they try to get baby spider back and play up that new development. Even if Magnus discovers another way to save him, I wonder if there will be any residual after effects to the encounter- like a longer life span. And the poor thing- her face when lizard man (that's what I'm calling evil Sanctuary dude) relieved her of her duty. Ugh. I wanted to kick him! I figured that was his game the entire time, and I'm glad they brought in someone new, instead of making Declan the bad guy. She has put herself in a precarious position-with lying, and not disclosing all of her plans to the other Heads of House. I can see where they're having trouble putting blind faith in her.

I think it was an interesting choice to go with Hinduism. I'm going to have to spend some quality tie with google, to read up on it. I'm interested to see if spiders were a random choice, or if they have some significance to Kali or possible Shiva. Hmmmm, I don't know a lot about it, so I won't keep rambling on that topic! It was interesting that they brought back Big Bertha. I really didn't expect that!

Okay...my head hurts now and I'm sure I left out tons!
Sanctuary = Awesome

I know I keep saying it, but this season has been spectacular. I think there's only been 1 or 2 episodes I haven't been particularly fond of, and the others I've rewatched over and over again. Tonight's ep was no different. First off, I've always loved killer house episodes no matter what the cause or what the show or book. For some reason, they really amuse me!

I loved how they explained Jack-the- Ripper, and the way Druitt's face changed between good/evil was amazing. He is such a wonderful actor. Sigh. I felt horrible for Helen, and the last exchange between the two of them was heartbreakingly tragic. Her eyes were teary, and she was still trying to save him, but Druitt knew what he had to do. It made me cry. For a moment, I thought the EM shield would still be on and it would kill him, but his last line was lovely. "I have no destination in mind." AHHHHHHHHHH. He could be dead for all we know. And the declaration of love was beautiful. Sigh. I just want to keep rewatching that part!

Kate has actually grown on me. She's still rather annoying, but I can tolerate her now. I'm also really glad they're giving the Big Guy a bigger part. He reminds me of one of our dogs- I just love hime so! There were some great one-liners in this ep, as usual, and I can't wait for the season finale next week. UGH! I can't believe it's almost over! NOOOOOOOOOO.
Happy New Year! Woohoo! I'm proud of myself for actually posting on January 1st, 2010! A lot has been happening since my last post. I've been working a temp job which ends on Tuesday, and I'm absolutley loving it! The only downside is that the hours are long and I'm exhausted when I get home so I've had no time to write or play on facebook. It's mainly administrative stuff, but I get to set up a lot of product for retailers to buy and it's neat to see the stuff that will be in stores in the fall! Hahahahahaha

All the holidays went well, and I can't believe school starts on Wednesday. Plus, NONE of my classes are online this semester which means I have to commute three nights out of each week. I'm not really looking forward to that at all. And I really need to go buy books now that I've been paid for half of the week. I'll make around $600 for the week which is SPECTACULAR since I need textbooks and Color needs her shots! It makes me feel a bit better about my financial situation. I'm also going to go apply at the census bureau as well.

I visited a new church on New Year's Eve which was actually pretty cool. It's very informal and laid back, but the worship band was a group of older guys with electric guitars, drums, keyboard, and bass- they sounded like a 70's hair band and it was AWESOME. One of the guys wrote most of the music himself and it was all wonderful. I was Methodist growing up, so I'm used to standing when asked and singing from a hymnal. It was pretty interesting to see people randomly dancing and swaying. Everyone was so friendly and it didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all.

I've been looking for a new church, and my boss at the temp place is a friend of the family and invited me along. I adore her and her family, and I ended up spending the night with her and after ringing in the New Year with communion, we went back to her house for scrambled eggs, sausage, and champagne. (She hadn't had a chance to go to the grocery store) It was a blast! Hope everyone else had an awesome New Year's!

Shenannigans!

So I apologize for neglecting this journal! Real life and Secret Santa got in the way, and I'll be back to my normal updates tomorrow! Anyways, I thought I'd share my escapades from last night! Hehehehehe

So, last night I had to go to a family Christmas party. This particular one is an annual tradition for a side of my family that I only see once a year. It’s always rather awkward, because no one really knows each other and we just kind of stand around and stay out of everyone’s way. Basically, we just eat and then have a present exchange. I was talking to Jen (shopping-luva) about how much I wasn’t looking forward to this party, and she came up with the brilliant idea for me to sneak Mentalist quotes into conversation! The results were pretty amazing, and the party was much more entertaining- for me anyways! And now… I will elaborate!

Quote 1: Use irk/irksome as many times as possible. This doesn’t have a special story to go with it, but I did end up using the word ‘irk’ three times and ‘irksome’ four times. Music was irksome, lasagna irks me, the loose step on the stairs outside was irksome… the list went on and on, and no one noticed anything out of the blue with that one!

Quote 2: Bite me Hehehehe, this one was fun! Every year, they hire someone to be Santa for the little kids. This year, the normal Santa was already booked, so my second cousin (I think) was given the job much to his chagrin. I think we exchange a sentence every year. Anyways, my name is called and I have to go sit next to Santa (everyone including adults does this) He asks me what I want for Christmas, and this is how it goes:

“And what do you want for Christmas, child?” (Apparently cousin thought he was being funny)

“A job,” I say with a grin.

“Well good luck with that,” he answers sarcastically.

“Bite me.” I got a glare from parents for that one.

Quote 3: “How could that thought not have entered your head? Your denial that it did intrigues me.” This was a hard one, and I didn’t have an opportunity to use the whole quote. I did, however, use the first part. My little sister (who’s 19) sat across from me during dinner. We’re all broken up into little tables of four, but most families still sit together which defeats the mingling purpose… Anyways, I asked her if she was happy she was considered an adult now, so she wouldn’t have to actually sit on Santa’s lap. She looked confused, so I shouted, “How could that thought not have entered your head?!” I got several stares. It was great.

Quote 4: Men are like toasters OR Women are like accordions One of my favorite uncles was there (thankfully) and during the gift exchange, my dad got the present he brought. It was a keychain with a light at the end of it and the back folded out into a utility tool like a Swiss army knife. Needless to say, my dad was amused by the gift for the next 30 minutes. I turn to my uncle, and:

Me: Men are like toasters.

Uncle: Your dad’s a lamp. Sometimes on, sometimes not.

Quote 5: “There’s no accounting for taste, is there?" My great-uncles are twins, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen them without a wine glass in hand. They’re in their 80’s now I think. Anyways, one just had cataract surgery and doesn’t have to wear glasses any more. My great-aunt was telling me how all the younger ladies at the country club were saying how handsome he looked without his glasses, and she looked a bit annoyed. I told her there was no accounting for taste. She just looked at me oddly and walked away.

He loved to play in the lake and his fur would get so tangled! He loved to swim after the ducks and try and herd them. I had to put him to sleep in June 2009 and I miss him so much. He was my first dog. I saved up, bought him myself, and paid for everything. He was only 2.

It was a freak accident that's sort of morbidly funny, just because stuff like this only happens in movies. A chandelier fell on him and caused a lot of damage. He seemed to be okay, but it messed with his nerves and may have caused brain damage. His personality swapped and he began to get really aggressive and have nervous system problems after surgery. The chandelier was at my old job location and it literally just snapped from the ceiling right after I walked under it, and he was following behind me. So now, I can add chandeliers to my list of irrational fears (along with the pirhanas). Very Phantom of the Opera-esque.

I found his little elf hat yesterday wrapped up in all our Christmas decorations and I'm still crying over that. Sigh. He would have been 3 on Christmas day.

I have an irrational fear of Pirhanas.

It started when I was in kindergarten. I remember sitting on the couch doing my letter people homework, and there must have been some sort of family event going on because I remember there were lots of people in the house. The tv was on in the background (probably on TBS) and a movie was playing. I think I was watching it out of the corner of my eye and no one noticed.

Anyways, all these kids were at a summer camp and they were swimming in this murky lake. The counselors were all giggling, and out of nowhere pirhanas attacked and started eating everyone and little blood pools formed. Everyone was screaming and various people kept being pulled under. I think a severed arm floated up.

It terrified me. I only took showers after that, because I thought if I took a bath, pirhanas would swim up the drain and eat me when I went to let the water out. I also learned to pee really quickly, because I had the same fear of the toilet. Swimming in lakes? Out of the question. Murky water still makes me nervous, and yet I know they're only in South America.

And yet, I love movies like Jaws and Lake Placid. Sharks and Alligators/Crocs don't bother me. It's those damned pirhanas.

This was another fun topic! I've always loved finding quotes that inspire me and using them in art and now in stories. During club meetings in college, we'd start each meeting with an inspirational quote, and as President of one organization, I got to search for numerable quotes that fit the situation. Normally, I pull quotes from my favorite authors and here are a few of my favorites, because once again I can't pick just one!

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."
C.S. Lewis

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
– Mark Twain

“One is not content to creep, when one has an impulse to soar.”
Helen Keller

"Ten perdu, jhamai se recbro."
Time lost can never be regained.
-Medieval Occitan proverb

"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple."
Dr. Seuss

Oh God.... I love books (and music, and movies...heh!) I've always loved to read and I can remember my mother reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder stories aloud to me when I was little. I've always been content out pull out a book and transport myself into whatever fantasy land was created, but I'd have to say my favorite book is actually a series of books:

CS Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia

Religious allegories are not, it's an amazing fantasy world that I've always loved! And yes, I tried to climb into my parents' wardrobe several times when I was younger! I actually love all of CS Lewis' stuff, and he has an amazing biography. That being said, I also love Ayn Rand and I've read all of her stuff as well. We the Living has always been one of my favorites although I am quite partial to Atlas Shrugged. I always get a lot of comments on my split mind between these two authors.

Other favorite books include:

The Watchers, by Dean Koontz
W;t, by Margaret Edson
To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee
The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostava
Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare
The Harry Potter Series, by JK Rowling
A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L'Engle

Sanctuary- SPOILERS- 'Next Tuesday'

*Hyperventilating*

Why is Sanctuary so awesome this season?!

I think that was one of my favorite episodes this season. First off, anything with a giant quid makes me happy. However, a giant vampire squid named Squidly makes me ecstatic. Seriously? I want to go buy some aquatic animal and name it Squidly now.

I really liked the way this episode was filmed. The camera angles were very interesting, as well as how the episode was pieced together. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time (and about 5 inches from the tv, but that's beside the point!) I love it when they bicker. They have some of the best one-liners, although Will was being a bit bratty to me. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed he didn't have important dates like that memorized. I kind of expected him to be on top of something like that, but I didn't expect Ashley's birthday to be the reason. I knew it was something serious, but I definitely got a bit teary!

I loved Will's expression after they got Scorpy (my name for the evil sea scorpion) back into the holding area. Poor Will! Everything did seem to hate him! And Magnus almost drowned! AH. My stomach clenched, but it was great to see Will's expression when he was able to rescue her (especially after she rescued him from Squidly). And ummmmmm, talk about hotness when they changed into their wetsuits :D So many cute moments that of course I read too much into, but to each her own after all!

The ending was adorable! I think Will's awe level of Magnus just doubled. I mean, she did blow up a helicopter with a flare. Pretty cool in my book! And the 'fish in the sea' line was priceless. I just love the way they interact. Even if nothing comes of it, episodes like this just make me squeal like a rabid fangirl. I'm sure I missed a lot of my favorites, but I'm still processing! Sigh.

Well, obviously my favorite tv program is a tie between The Mentalist and Sanctuary. Thankfully they air on two different nights! I love the storylines and actors of both shows, and I've made some great new friends by getting involved in the fandoms of each! Amanda Tapping is probably my favorite television actress ever, and it's been neat to see her go from Stargate to Sanctuary.

Other shows that are off-air that I love are: Stargate: SG1, Firefly, Angel, and Farscape. I'm obviously a scifi nerd :P Although, the first show I can ever remember falling in love with once I was old enough to analyze it was Diagnosis Murder with Dick Van Dyke! I loved it and I had the biggest crush on Jesse... hee!

Wow! This is another tough one! I'd have to say A League of Their Own. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104694/) I absolutely love this movie and I remember watching it and The Princess Bride over and over when I was younger.

I have a rather wide taste of movie choices and other top movies for me are 'Twister', 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe', 'Lady in the Water', 'Wall-E', 'Star Trek', and 'Seabiscuit'. I also have an unhealthy obsession with stupid shark movies. I LOVE the Jaws series and Deep Blue Sea. Love them to pieces along with Jurassic Park! :)

Amanda Tapping is my hero. The End.

First off, I’m glad Declan’s back! Yay! Angry Will storming into the elevator was fun, and I can’t believe Bigfoot’s dead! What?! I hope he’s not really dead, but I guess I’ll find out more as the show goes on. Will had the best expression when he was told Magnus was in isolation. (Yay for hugs!) She looked so broken. It was heartbreaking to see her so upset, especially since she’s so level most of the time-except for Requiem and End of Nights Part II.

The episodes so seem a bit disjointed lately. Last week, Rachel came out of nowhere and now the Big Guy’s dead and Magnus is being charged with murder. I do feel bad for Henry. He (they all have really) lost so much the past few episodes-poor guy. I like the team’s loyalty to Magnus, but the others seem to have a slight bit of doubt. The investigation by telepaths just seems so invasive to me. I feel so bad for Magnus. I’m also a little annoyed about Will’s attitude toward the female telepath. What about Clara? That wasn’t too long ago. Hmph. Maybe it’s a ploy.

Whoa. Magnus does seem to be losing it a bit, and Will looked devastated when he saw Magnus’ face on the security feed. Amanda Tapping is phenomenal! Love her craziness and intensity. Will’s so loyal! One per day-that’s your limit. Awww. Typical Will! Boooooo, Declan’s being creepy. I don’t like this at all! I was so worried Henry wasn’t going to be able to get out. Loved how she held on to Will when they came to take her into custody.

Ahhhhhh! The suspense! I love that Will is willing to leave the Sanctuary if something’s happened to Magnus. Interesting character decision and I loved his little good bye speech. Shoot. Now, she’s convulsing. I really want to know what’s going on and I hope it’s not a dream sequence. Bigfoot’s not dead?! YAY. Wow! I can’t believe it was all an elaborate plan from Magnus. That was intense, and the episode just got better as it went along. I still wish they’d connect the episodes a bit more, but that was one of my top five I think!

His Red Right Hand- The Mentalist

I really, really, really enjoyed this episode and I can’t believe how much happened. Ashley Gable (the writer of this episode) did a brilliant job, and I hope she’s in charge of the finale because she just does a phenomenal job with emotionally intense episodes that really play to each characters’ strengths in my opinion. Anyways, on with the show!

• Well, I missed the first 30 seconds, because Fringe ran over, but I can in to Van Pelt and Rigsby in bed together. I loved the little phone scene that followed when Lisbon called them in, and I’m glad they answered the correct phone! Hah!
• I loved the little exchange with Rebecca (Bosco’s secretary), Jane, and Lisbon. “You can like me-your boss and I made up”/”I don’t like him either.” It just started everything out on the right foot although I had a feeling about what was coming! I’ll jump ahead and say that I never expected it to be Rebecca! Good little twist!
• I was a bit surprised the deaths happened so quickly. I expected a bit more of a lead-in, but it still worked. I enjoyed Cho’s take-charge attitude and Lisbon’s expression when she ran over to Bosco was heart breaking!
• I didn’t like the little flashback that happened right after the commercial break. I was really confused-it was poorly executed to me. I liked the actual material in the flashback-Bosco’s facial expression and Lisbon choking on her coffee, but it took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on which disrupted the flow for me.
• I LOVED the little moments between Lisbon and Minelli in this episode. It was nice to see more of him, especially since we learn he’s leaving the show (retiring). Sigh. His interview with the press was hilarious (horse assery!) and when Lisbon’s fixed his tie it just made me happy. I’m going to miss him! I was suspicious at first! He was acting oddly and kept trying to tell her something. And awww for the hug!
• The yellow roses were an interesting touch –a sign of friendship- Red John is truly a sick individual and I knew he’d attack them in order to get the case back to Jane. Spot on.
• I liked that more was revealed about Jane’s moral character when he unplugged Bosco’s morphine. He really is willing to do anything, and it showed a nice darkness. Loved the argument between Lisbon and Jane that followed. I sense a little foreshadowing…
• I was a little confused as to why Rebecca would try to shoot Bosco in a hospital. Wouldn’t it be easier to inject a drug into his IV or smother him with the pillow? I did love Bosco’s line when he woke up though and Lisbon’s intensity when she stared Rebecca down. Nice little moment there.
• The confession- I had a feeling that was going to happen and I liked how it played out. Poor Lisbon-she just looked so sad and kept trying to look away. This part made me tear up a bit! And I loved that Bosco told Jane to look after her (or he’d haunt him) heh. That would be an interesting fanfiction idea!
• One random thing I noticed-the toast at the end- Cho raised his shot glass, but didn’t drink. Instead he set it down after the toast and drank his water. Has anything like that happened before with him?

I've actually never paid much attention to the word, but I pulled out the trusty dictionary to see the difference. Here's what I found:

Blonde has 4 definitions: 1) adj (of hair) fair or pale yellow 2) adj. having fair hair and a light complexion; 3) noun. a woman with blonde hair 4) noun. the colour of blonde hair.
Blond is the masculine form.

The word "blond" refers to the color, whether it is of hair, wood, or whatever. "Blonde," however, refers only to a woman or a girl with blond hair. A man with blond hair is a blond (without the "e"), though. It even said that some consider the word "blonde" to be a sexist term and have dropped the "e" in all usages. These different spellings are not meant to be offensively sexist or insulting, but are used for literary clarity. For example, when I read 'the blonde student' I automatically know she is female, whereas when I read 'the blond student' I know that he is male.

So does this mean a guy with brown hair is a brunet? : D

I had a 101 degree fever, but it finally broke this afternoon. I'm feeling much better now. Probably because I slept for 14 hours...craziness.

Almost done with classes. I'm going to try and get my two projects done ahead of time, and then I will start a major job search. I'm trying to convince my parents to get me a golden retriever puppy for Christmas... We have two dogs, but I miss my dog. Technically, I'm not allowed to have another pet until a move out again though. And I still owe them money for vet bills....grumble grumble.

M'kay. Off to reply to tons of reviews. Very exciting stuff! Hopefully it'll stop raining soon.
